The charter members of B & N are people with a sense of fun and frugality. We are an alternative to krewes which put an emphasis on what you can purchase and on high financial commitment. In the same way that Centaur is an alternative to Gemini - Centaurians building their floats and Geminariums purchasing them from famous New Orleans float builder Blaine Kern (am not up on them; this might have changed) - Blanc et Noir is an alternative to All the other krewes. Expressiveness and self-generated personality is a healthy theme.
